Our History
The story of Friktoria.com began long before its official establishment as a company. Since the late 1980s, our team has been active in the field of digital technology, operating Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) — one of the earliest forms of online communication in Greece, at a time when the Internet didn’t even exist.
During the 1990s and 2000s, we gained significant experience in specialized optical fiber installations within demanding industrial environments such as foundries and factories, often spanning long distances and exposed to high levels of electromagnetic interference. At the same time, we participated in the creation and operation of the first FORTHnet network hubs in the Volos and Larissa regions, years before OTEnet appeared. These experiences shaped our deep expertise in designing and implementing resilient, high-availability networks.
In 2008, Friktoria.com was officially founded, focusing on hosting and web services. Despite the challenging economic climate of that era, the company achieved steady growth through continuous investment in technology, infrastructure, and human resources.
In 2018, we took the next major step — the design and construction of our privately owned Tier-III design Data Center, FRK01VOL, in Central Greece. Design & construction.
The Data Center is built following Tier-III design principles, ensuring:
- N+1 (and in several cases 2N) redundancy in critical subsystems (electrical power, cooling, network infrastructure).
- Uptime of 99.982%, offering high availability.
- Concurrently maintainable infrastructure, allowing maintenance without service interruptions.
Power Infrastructure
- Power supplied from the public grid, with 100% renewable energy (solar, wind, etc).
- Diesel generators ensure backup power in case of outages.
